Let’s go back to the beginning. It all started in 1911 when George Hull bought a ranch, for his son, just outside of Sterling City, TX. He named it the Hull Ranch, bought cattle, and started building his legacy which eventually was passed along to George’s 4 daughters. Over the years the ranch earned the nickname of “The Lantern Ranch”, as the cowboys would leave lanterns on at night to find their way back to the bunkhouse. The nickname stuck, and today the ranch is known as the Hull Lantern Ranch.
Now, where does Sterling Equine play into this? Horses have been used since the beginning to work cattle. As the ranch has passed through the generations, our love of horses has only grown. In 2012, Hull Barbee and current owner of Hull Lantern Ranch, decided we should turn our love of horses into a business. Thus, Sterling Equine was born. It’s been 8 years of steady growth and we are so proud to be able to offer you these quality bred Performance Quarter Horses.
